Project Details

This service is a Community based Under 18 Drug & Alcohol Prevention & Treatment Support Service for individuals and families across the Midlands area (Longford, Westmeath, Laois & Offaly).  HSE CADS & MRDATF will jointly fund and manage the provision of this service.

The key objectives of the Service are to:

* Provide early intervention techniques to U18's and families in line with best international research and standards and refer to relevant services where appropriate.
* Target and engage with U18's who are at high risk of developing problems as a result of their drug and/or alcohol use themselves or are affected by drug and/or alcohol misuse within their families.
* Provide support and treatment to those who are experiencing difficulties as a result of their drug and/or alcohol use.
* Reduce the harm caused to yong people by their drug and/or alcohol use.
* Provide support and guidance to families who are affected by drug and/or alcohol use.
*Provide family support services as required with referral to family support specialist services where required.
* Work collaboratively with relevant agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for service users and families.
* Provide clinical nurse specialist supports (CNS with Mental Health background).
* Provide addiction counselling supports to service users.
* Provide education, information and support to service users and families.
* Support other professionals in the delivery of a range of targeted drug and alcohol education and prevention programmes in line with best practice to parents, community, voluntary and statutory services/agencies.
* Support schools and other education settings (in conjunction with the SPHE programme) in the delivery of the drug and alcohol component of prevention and education programmes in line with best practice.

Referrals can be made directly through Ms. Sinead O'Shea, Social Care Leader via self-referral or direct referral from the Community, Voluntary and Statutory.
