Overview of MRDATF Drug & Alcohol Awareness Week 2014

The Midland Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force (MRDATF) ran its annual Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week from Monday the 10th to Friday the 14th November inclusive.  In line with Action 28 of the National Drugs Strategy, Develop a sustanined range of awareness campaigns that consider a co-ordinated approach by all key players to the development and implementation of a designated drug/alcohol awarenesss week/day with agreed themes and metholdogies, the roll out of the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week is a key action for the MRDATF in 2014.

The aim of the awareness week was to focus on increasing awareness about drug and alcohol related issues and to highlight the drug and alcohol support services available to people in the midland region.  A total of 22 events took place across the midland region during this Awareness Week.  The wide range of events were organised by the MRDATF, Community, Voluntary and Statutory Agencies working in the region.  Each event that took place had a specific target audience to include service providers, parents, general public, students and under 18’s.

The Task Force would like to sincerely thank all agencies who organised and participated in these events.  The Task Force would not have been in a position to put the schedule of events together had it not been for the commitment and co-operation it received from all agencies involved.
